Mitsi class assignment

the class assignment for week 4 in mitsi's class was to paint (copy) an artist's work...i choose "jesse reno"...... i am enjoying this class very much...it is getting me to let go and just do what-ever.....i am surprising myself ....

Week 2 of Mitsi's class

ok, where do i begin....i am taking Michelle Brown's class (full) and having a great time throwing paint everywhere.........this painting was first a "markings" drawing and then we where to go from there...and this is what transpired.... a funny looking bird loving all of nature..... by the way, Mitsi (Michelle) gives great one on one in this class.......

Annie's door progress

annie, my 8 year old grand daughter, started to paint this door in my studio some time ago and she has added more to it....she is having a ball.....

Brown

Brown is the color of the week at twinkle twinkle and i used chalk to do this portrait...just plain cheap chalk that i have in the studio for the kids to play with.....it is done on wood that i collaged papers on some time ago......lots of texture...i tried to capture the texture in my photo... the pop color is aqua but with chalk it did not pop as much as i would have liked it to..... but anyway, it was fun to do....and different .....

added some markings

to this painting...the little "hi guy" in the upper left hand corner cracks me up....lol....he has to go!!!!

Making Marks

just making marks with Michelle Brown. Mitsi, as she is called, has a new workshop ,and of course being the workshop junky that i am, i have signed up for it....it is way different from her watercolour classes and i just had to try it.....check it out.......this piece above is a "making marks" lesson..... i had a blast doing it so i had to share...the top photo is the whole piece and the bottom is a close-up of a section of the piece....

Playing with Misty Mawn

This is another exercise from Misty Mawn's book "Unfurling"......i am enjoying it sooo much...this is her first book from what i have read......

this is done on a collaged background...... the portrait is drawn with a stibillo marks all pencil, colored with water soluble crayons, and then you use white acrylic paint to distribute the color.... boy that was a mouth full....if you don't understand, go buy the book.. lol ..i highly recommend it...

oh, i forgot to mention that one of the photos is color enhanced with my photo program.....the other is original....... misty's art is is very soft....i love it... ;-)

Pink-Very Pink!!

This is for the summer of color week 3, pink week, over at twinkle twinkle......

There is a story why i did this portrait "sketch style"...... i just received Misty Mawn's book, unfurling, and in it there is an exercise where you sketch with a "stabilo marks all" pencil and then you soften the lines with a brush and water....then you can use color. i used water soluble wax pastels.... this was the first one i did and i decided that i would use the color pink and use it for the week 3 at twinkle twinkle...

Watercolour Flowers

some watercolour flowers i did to practice.....i cut them out and i will probably use them in something mixed media.....i am taking the "color drop flowers" class from martha lever over at creative workshops....

Green

the color of the week over at Twinkle Twinkle ,you guessed it, is GREEN......and i decided to do another portrait..... wish the shot was better....

Blue

This is"blue" for my first "Summer of Color" piece over at Twinkle Twinkle a fun challange to get you inspired....you probably guessed the first color is "blue" ......... i can use all the inspiration i can get these days...a good pinch would help also.....

it has been hot here in western carolina (90's) and i have to admit i do not like the heat...just want to stay indoors.....the heat is the reason we left florida... happy day!!!... ;-)

for "Gritty Jane's Portrait and Papers" class.....the dress and flowers on her head wrap consists of torn papers.....the background is collaged with torn paper also...then painted dark and then the figure is sketched.....and so on and so on.....

Soon to be Jam

Picked these this morning at my daughter's house......soooo yummy......they will mostly be used for jam......i think i will try the "no cook" freezer jam a neighbor told me about...it makes a small amount and is supposed to be super easy to prepare.......i am about "easy" when it comes to the kitchen....

boy i am all over the place with my art these days....i must admit that i really had a great time doing this "she art" ( Christy Tomlinson ) piece even though it is loaded with too much "stuff".( i think)...and the girl is not straight....i got carried away ...paper was flying everywhere and mod podge had my fingers sticking together...... but it is fun, fun, fun....

Zorana's Class

Finally took a photo of the journal i did for Zorana's Class. It is a 8 x 10 accordian style journal that ties on both sides.......Pictured are the front and back covers....the pages are "rosin paper"....I like the size and i know i will enjoy working in it......

Another Sketch

Another charcoal sketch for Gritty Jane's class....i like the charcoal and think i will do more....i think i will use a reference this next time... i think all of the "girls" i do (from my head) look alike...so boring!!!!

i have been playing with charcoal the past few days.....i started this and got a smudge on it that would not go away....ugh....did not want to put any more time in it....off to another sheet of drawing paper......

Stamping & Coloring on Fabric

In Sharon's apron class one of the assignments is to stamp and color on muslin so we can become familiar with the pencils we are using to do the apron art....The color we are using comes from Inktense pencils by Derwent.... they are awesome....i have used them before and really like them....they are watercolour that is permanent when dry....

These butterflies are my practice.....i think they are so pretty.....

Nope, not a Forsythia

this bush outside my kitchen window is not a Forsythia....i have a number of Forsythia bushs on our property and this is way different ....the flower is very different.....i bought it years ago...seems to me it was a Japanesse something or other..???......sorry about the picture but i just cropped the original....

out one of my kitchen window you see this beautiful bush..i don't know what it is....but it is yellow and gorgeous.....

No Finished Art because.....

2 beautiful grand children, Piper Jane and Annie Kate, are taking up most of my creative time these days.......but i love it... they will soon be grown and won't need "nonnie" as often as they do at this time.... ;)

Zorana, I Finished One

Finally got a, not so great, picture of one of the small journals i did from Zorana's class......i plan to journal and sketch on separate small pieces of wc paper and attach them in the journal....probably all faces...i love to do faces..... this was very "fun" to do..... I also started the larger journal that is part of this class.....it is done with rosin paper..... fun , fun, fun...... the journal is 3 1/2 x 5 inches and ties closed with a ribbon...... i loved doing it...
