another red head

it seems when i get to the point where i do not want to, or don't have the desire to paint , i drag out the paper, pen and watercolours.......this is a 15 minute sketch and color......i have a limited palette of watercolours that i use when i am sitting around watching tv.......that is why i turn out all these red heads.......i surprise myself with these sketches....some of them turn out pretty good.....i think.....

flora's class progress

some progress in flora's class.........the 5 weeks of class was amazing.....i really enjoyed it and will take with me some wonderful moments........as you see, i am still not close to being finished with my paintings......many layers to come .......our goal was to learn the process, the amazing process that will stay with me forever.......

Spring is about here....yippeee

a few pictures i took today as i enjoyed our beautiful north carolina weather.....it was in the high 60's today and it was glorious.......rosemary is in bloom, red maples are budding, old red wagon waiting for pots of flowers and the garden area is tilled and planted with potatoes and onions this year.......we allow a neighbor, who is an organic farmer, use this part of our property to plant some of his veggies......and we benefit from it by having all the organic veggies we need all year long.....how lucky are we.....

WIP for Flora's class

the top photo here has become, after a few layers of paint, the bottom WIP......still more layers to go in flora's class.......i have to tell you it is soooo much fun to experience the whole concept of painting soooo freely.......will update soon.......forgot to mention this canvas is 36x36 inches...

paint party friday

yet another quick face sketch for ppf.....this is quickly drawn with a sharpie, then watercoloured with some dried, leftover paints i had sitting in front of me on a plate that i mix colors on....i think i completed it in less than 10 minutes......on copy paper......

PPF

i managed to squeeze in a really fast sketch tonight for PPF.....it is painted on a piece of paper that i inserted in a altered book....i challenged myself to use the paint i had in front of me.....

a "CUTE" altered book entry

i did "cute" in my altered book last night when i could not sleep.......boy, am i dragging today and i have a 2yr. old grand daughter to care for......for sure i will hit the sheets early tonight...

Bragging

just had to post this here to show off the latest tutu my daughter is making........ i love it....can you tell???? so shabby chic........ and she is using up my piles of fabrics...... yes, i "used to" sew ....after all i did raise all those girls.....

journal play

found this journal i made out of file folders some time ago and played in it this morning.... the hearts i did today and the other photo i posted was done in june of 2011...... this is how long this journal has been hiding..... anyway, i am starting to feel much better and enjoying the journal playing a bunch lately....maybe it is the throwing of paint around that i like more than anything.....and do i have a load of paint and paper.....

for PPF

i made it for PPF this week...hurray......i played with paint to make these papers today......i am nursing a cold and am very uncomfortable....ugh.....

i do want to wish everyone a great new year....can you believe it is a new year already.......

painting fabric

i was looking through a "somerset workshop" book, autumn 2009, and rediscovered a crown that alisa burke made. (among many other things )...... i am going to make the crown for my grand daughter.... excited to do it....the only trouble is, i might have to make 2....one for a 8yr. old and one for her sister who is almost 2yrs. old......anyway, here is some of the fabric i have painted to use for the crown......

Dare to Dream

this is done in an altered book.....i find i like to work in it because i can make "boo boo's" and not stress too much about it.....although taking a picture of my work is stressful because i do not have any light at night....but you get the idea of what it looks like....it was fun......done with "pitt pastels" mostly......i do like working with chalk.....

Manon's free class

I did one of Manon's girls in the journal that made the other day......her girls are sooo fun ...the journal pages were already colored so the drawing was quick....i might just do another...

journal entry again

i had just enough time to finish this in a" journal /altered book" that i started many moons ago....now i am going to sit with "heat" on my back and practice some lettering for lori's class in letter lab .

journal page

i actually finished something today that i started this morning......a journal entry.....now, i am not much good at keeping a journal....never was......... but i do like to draw faces hoping one day to improve......so i draw faces in journals....this one is not perfect....the nose is to long and etc. but i like it for some reason... i played with my rub-ons , stamps, stabilo pencils and acrylic paint and more...... i had fun...and i am so happy i can say it is finished.....but i really need to do something about taking better pictures indoors....

another thing i am doing is ripping out pages from magazines for Sharon's class.... go check it out ...it is going to be a blast......

just playing......

not much going on in my studio these days......i did make a couple of "no glue, no sew" journals that i can play in .......i have soooo much paper that i decided to do something with it today.....i used watercolour paper, 140lb, and put together 2 journals (9x8) in no time........and then i just slapped some watercolour on the pages of one of them....now it is ready for what ever.....and i used up some paper....yipppeee....

fall color (again)

i can't stop taking fall photos of our ginkgo tree.....the red building, also in the picture, is my studio...it is down a path from our home.....

the other photo is the "color between 2 oaks"....they are sitting down the stairs, right off of our porch......
