for PPF

i made it for PPF this week...hurray......i played with paint to make these papers today......i am nursing a cold and am very uncomfortable....ugh.....

i do want to wish everyone a great new year....can you believe it is a new year already.......

painting fabric

i was looking through a "somerset workshop" book, autumn 2009, and rediscovered a crown that alisa burke made. (among many other things )...... i am going to make the crown for my grand daughter.... excited to do it....the only trouble is, i might have to make 2....one for a 8yr. old and one for her sister who is almost 2yrs. old......anyway, here is some of the fabric i have painted to use for the crown......

Dare to Dream

this is done in an altered book.....i find i like to work in it because i can make "boo boo's" and not stress too much about it.....although taking a picture of my work is stressful because i do not have any light at night....but you get the idea of what it looks like....it was fun......done with "pitt pastels" mostly......i do like working with chalk.....

Manon's free class

I did one of Manon's girls in the journal that made the other day......her girls are sooo fun ...the journal pages were already colored so the drawing was quick....i might just do another...

journal entry again

i had just enough time to finish this in a" journal /altered book" that i started many moons ago....now i am going to sit with "heat" on my back and practice some lettering for lori's class in letter lab .

journal page

i actually finished something today that i started this morning......a journal entry.....now, i am not much good at keeping a journal....never was......... but i do like to draw faces hoping one day to improve......so i draw faces in journals....this one is not perfect....the nose is to long and etc. but i like it for some reason... i played with my rub-ons , stamps, stabilo pencils and acrylic paint and more...... i had fun...and i am so happy i can say it is finished.....but i really need to do something about taking better pictures indoors....

another thing i am doing is ripping out pages from magazines for Sharon's class.... go check it out ...it is going to be a blast......

just playing......

not much going on in my studio these days......i did make a couple of "no glue, no sew" journals that i can play in .......i have soooo much paper that i decided to do something with it today.....i used watercolour paper, 140lb, and put together 2 journals (9x8) in no time........and then i just slapped some watercolour on the pages of one of them....now it is ready for what ever.....and i used up some paper....yipppeee....

fall color (again)

i can't stop taking fall photos of our ginkgo tree.....the red building, also in the picture, is my studio...it is down a path from our home.....

the other photo is the "color between 2 oaks"....they are sitting down the stairs, right off of our porch......

Fall Color

i don't have any new art to show.....but i think mother nature did a fantastic job.....this is the view from my front porch looking down my drive......breathtaking.....

one of my katie phone book sketches, painted..... my faces all look alike....i need to try to paint loose and not blend so much....hard for me to do.....well, i have a few more sketches to practice with...

wip on my desk

as you can see from the number of "non-dominant" hand drawings on my desk, i am loving doing these transfers katie kendrick is teaching us in her first online class....we are drawing on phone book pages and then transferring them to watercolor paper...... it is very calming to me....and i need calm right now....

painted fabric play

some play with paint on fabric...i am taking alisa burke's beneath the surface class.......i had some strips of cotton duck leftovers and decided to paint them....i would rather be doing a large canvas but i pulled a muscle in my back and standing for a long length of time does not work.......

Another Face

this i did late last nite...drawn with a "stabilo marks-all " pencil on watercolor paper and blended with white acrylic paint.....just playing until i have the time to do something on a large canvas.....

"Cutest ever"

if you remember me telling you, i am baby sitting my 2 grand daughters this summer while their mother works...annie, 8yrs. old, is always wanting to paint something......she loves dogs and i love suzan buckner's art......... and one of her paintings of a dog inspired us to do this little dog today....thank you for the inspiration suzan.....and here it is.....

Derwent Graphitint Pencils

these pencils surfaced in my studio tonight and i had to play......i quickly sketched, and then sprayed with water.....when you first put them down on the paper they are rather pale until you wet them.....amazing and they are waterproof after they dry....

just having fun with this....it is 16x20....big for me......bad lighting at 2am results in a "not so great" picture.....

Mitsi class assignment

the class assignment for week 4 in mitsi's class was to paint (copy) an artist's work...i choose "jesse reno"...... i am enjoying this class very much...it is getting me to let go and just do what-ever.....i am surprising myself ....

Week 2 of Mitsi's class

ok, where do i begin....i am taking Michelle Brown's class (full) and having a great time throwing paint everywhere.........this painting was first a "markings" drawing and then we where to go from there...and this is what transpired.... a funny looking bird loving all of nature..... by the way, Mitsi (Michelle) gives great one on one in this class.......

Annie's door progress

annie, my 8 year old grand daughter, started to paint this door in my studio some time ago and she has added more to it....she is having a ball.....

Brown

Brown is the color of the week at twinkle twinkle and i used chalk to do this portrait...just plain cheap chalk that i have in the studio for the kids to play with.....it is done on wood that i collaged papers on some time ago......lots of texture...i tried to capture the texture in my photo... the pop color is aqua but with chalk it did not pop as much as i would have liked it to..... but anyway, it was fun to do....and different .....

added some markings

to this painting...the little "hi guy" in the upper left hand corner cracks me up....lol....he has to go!!!!

Making Marks

just making marks with Michelle Brown. Mitsi, as she is called, has a new workshop ,and of course being the workshop junky that i am, i have signed up for it....it is way different from her watercolour classes and i just had to try it.....check it out.......this piece above is a "making marks" lesson..... i had a blast doing it so i had to share...the top photo is the whole piece and the bottom is a close-up of a section of the piece....

Playing with Misty Mawn

This is another exercise from Misty Mawn's book "Unfurling"......i am enjoying it sooo much...this is her first book from what i have read......

this is done on a collaged background...... the portrait is drawn with a stibillo marks all pencil, colored with water soluble crayons, and then you use white acrylic paint to distribute the color.... boy that was a mouth full....if you don't understand, go buy the book.. lol ..i highly recommend it...

oh, i forgot to mention that one of the photos is color enhanced with my photo program.....the other is original....... misty's art is is very soft....i love it... ;-)
